Mrs Amanda Harrison
Amanda Harrison was born in London and raised in Sydney.She creates figurative ceramic sculptures in a contemporary abstract style and in natural earthy colours.1981-84 she studied a BA Communications degree at UTS Sydney. !990 -91 she completed a Diploma in Graphic Design at Randwick Tafe, Sydney. From 2000 - she has studied ceramics and sculpture under Renata de Lambert a reknowned Australian ceramist and teacher.
Her figurative sculptures are made using a slab and coil method of construction. Her work is influenced by the abstract forms of Henry Moore and the simplicity of african art. Her natural earthy finishes are inspired by the textures and colours of the Australian landscape..She uses a variety of firing techniques, from low firing in a primitive pit or raku kiln to very high firing in a modern gas kiln.
