Ray Berman

Ray Berman was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed a Diploma in Graphic Art in 1958 at the Witswatersrand Technical College. In 1961 he spent a year in Paris studying at the Academie de la Grands Chaumiere.

Because of the political tension in South Africa at the time, he went to live in Swaziland in 1966. There

he ran his own architectural practice and designed and built several unique houses. For the past few years he has been painting full time. He has exhibited in solo and group shows in Swaziland, South Africa and in 2009 in Sydney, Australia, and is represented in private collections in these countries as well as America, Israel and Switzerland.

In 1978 he carved hardwood lions for the Lozita Royal Palace, Swaziland and in 2007 he created murals 11 metres by 4 meters for the Maguga Lodge, Swaziland
